Online Virtual Programs

Collingswood is offering online virtual programs this year to provide a variety of fun, engaging activities to add some novelty and community to what are hopefully the last few months of social distancing!
Registration is open to Collingswood residents and its sending districts January 27th to February 7th and is open to anyone February 8th to February 15th.
Note: some programs require materials to be picked up from Collingswood Borough Hall before the program begins.

Sustainability Tutorials

Simple Life Hacks to Reduce Your Carbon Footprint and Live Sustainably!
Hear directly from our Green Team members, all Collingswood residents, about how changes in your daily life can reduce your carbon footprint and improve the health and well-being of our community. Green Team members will provide simple tips and resources to increase sustainability in your daily lives. Series topics include renewable energy & energy efficiency, sustainable cooking, waste reduction, alternative transportation, water conservation, green gardening, stormwater management, and a few fun surprises.
Registration will remain open until March 16th.

Calligraphy for Beginners (all ages)

Calligraphy for beginners introduces the art of calligraphy. In this 4-week program, participants learn the fundamental techniques of calligraphy to create beautiful letters for use in personal projects, graphic design, advertising, and more.
You won’t need expensive pens to take this class because the supplies will be provided! Supplies are available for pick-up at Collingswood Borough Hall the week of Feb. 15.

​Knitting for Beginners​ (all ages)
Instructor: Madeleine Nist
Wednesday 6:30pm - 7:15pm

Material Pick-up at Collingswood Borough Hall: Feb. 8-12, 9am - 4:30pm
Fee: $30 (includes supplies)


A series of 6 half-hour knitting lessons take you through the basics of knitting and introduce resources to continue to learning into the future. Participants learn knitting essentials including:
  • appropriate tools for each project
  • how to read a pattern
  • how to find necessary information on yarn labels
  • the confidence that comes from building skills and getting your hands to cooperate!
​Participants complete two unisex projects: a simple neck warmer as well as a small swatch for Valentine's Day.
The instructor demonstrates each skill in real time and provides links to YouTube videos for participants to review lesson content if needed. Interactive chat and student input are encouraged.
Registration fees include a knitting kit with a pair of knitting needles and a quality skein of yarn, available for pick up at Collingswood Borough Hall the week of Feb. 8. Patterns for each project are shared via email. Classes may extend an additional 15 minutes as needed.

Dungeons and Dragons for Adults (age 18+)

Fee: $55 (includes handbook)

Over 6 weeks, adults meet online in a beginner-friendly Dungeons & Dragons campaign. Lead by Dungeons and Dragons Game Masters, players create their own character to join an adventuring party, solve puzzles, battle monsters, and save the world in this popular tabletop game. 
A necessary handbook filled with maps, character creation, and a guide to playing the game is included and available for pick-up at Collingswood Borough Hall the week of Feb. 8.

Online Art: Comics Toolkit
Instructor: Bridget Briscione
Ages 6-9: Tuesday 3:30pm - 4:15pm - Feb 16, 23, Mar 2, 9, 16, 23
Ages 10-12: Thursday 3:30pm - 4:15pm - Feb 18, 25, Mar 4, 11, 18, 25
Materials Pick-up at Collingswood Borough Hall: Feb. 8-12, 9am - 4:30pm
Fee: $60 (includes supplies)


This 6-week class explores basic drawing skills needed to create your own comic books, cartoons, and graphic novels! Artists learn about portraits, capturing movement, color theory, drawing landscapes, creating storyboards, and more.  Each session focuses on a different topic, equipping artists with design skills to create dynamic comics of their own.
Classes are held via Zoom and are designed for your artist to participate independently.  Class sections are separated by age, so artists learn the skills at an appropriate developmental level. Class registration fees include an art kit with materials, available for pick up from Collingswood Borough Hall the week of Feb. 8. 
In addition, the following common materials from home are required: pencil, scissors, glue stick, coloring materials of your choice (crayons, markers, colored pencils, etc).
